Devillier Communications, Inc. (Devillier) was asked by Thirteen/WNET New York (the series presenter) to undertake a national media relation campaign that would bring the three-part series, In Search of Ancient Ireland to the attention of the largest possible audience. The series explored and dispelled centuries-long myths about Ireland and its people. The Agency's strategy was to create a campaign that reached beyond the television reviewers, televisions supplements and entertainment wires and syndicates. Devillier recommended the creation of a stunning press kit featuring original pictures taken by Leo Eaton on location in Ireland and provided guidance on a special event in New York City hosted by Tourism Ireland. The program was mentioned as a television highlight by four of the top national television syndicates; Associated Press, The New York Times, Gannett News and United Feature (distributed to 3,500 newspapers); and Historian Carmel McCaffrey was interviewed by "The Irish Hour/WCRC" and "Good Day USA with Doug Stephan," which is syndicated to more than 150 stations nationwide. The publicity campaign generated more than 32 million media impressions including a TV Guide "PBS Close-UP".
