Success Stories

A Capitol Fourth

Every year, on the 4th of July, the grounds of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. resonate with the magnificent sounds of the National Symphony Orchestra and an array of internationally-acclaimed performers. For the past two decades, this unique celebration -- A Capitol Fourth -- has been captured live for the public television audience. Under the direction of guest conductor Erich Kunzel, and hosted by actor Barry Bostwick, A Capitol Fourth features some of the biggest names in showbiz including Ray Charles, James Galway, Bill Cosby, Tony Bennett, the Neville Brothers, LeAnn Womack, The Pointer Sisters, Tony Danza, Faith Hill and Kenny G, among others. Consistently the highest-rated entertainment special on PBS, A Capitol Fourth, has been called a "gift to America" by Daily Variety.

Devillier mounts an aggressive national promotion campaign on behalf of A Capitol Fourth that includes scheduling interviews with major talk shows, coordinating live network pool feeds, organizing on-site photo opportunities in rain or shine, and reaching out to reviewers and entertainment columnists in the top 100 markets. A Capitol Fourth has been the recipient of hundreds of cover stories on major television supplements and consistent upbeat reviews such as On.sat.com who called the program "Patriotism with Panche" and The Atlanta Journal Constitution who said A Capitol Fouth is truly an "American star-spangled salute." This year's press relations campaign generated over 161 million media impressions and the program's companion Web site, produced by Devillier, attracted over 75,000 visitors in the week prior to the broadcast.
